Leishman rallies to win at Torrey Pines

SAN DIEGO (AP) Marc Leishman realized he had at two-shot lead as he stood over a 6-foot birdie putt on the final hole at Torrey Pines. He also knew Jon Rahm was the only one who could catch him.

That made his final birdie all the more important.

It turned out to be the winner Sunday in the Farmers Insurance Open, much to Rahm's surprise.

Herbert wins first European Tour title

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Lucas Herbert marked Australia Day in his native country by capturing his first professional title, beating Christiaan Bezuidenhout of South Africa at the second hole of a playoff to win the Dubai Desert Classic after a wild final round on Sunday.

Herbert rolled in a birdie putt from 2 feet at the 18th on his third trip up the par-5 last hole at Emirates Golf Club, after Bezuidenhout failed to get up and down from the back of the green for his own birdie. Read More...

Sagstrom wins first LPGA Tour title

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) Madelene Sagstrom won the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio on Sunday for her first LPGA Tour title, birdieing the par-3 17th to tie for the lead and winning with a par when Nasa Hataoka missed a 3-footer on the last.

Sagstrom finished with a 2-under 70 for a 17-under 271 total at rain-softened Boca Rio Golf Club. Read More...

Players Championship to have $15M purse

SAN DIEGO (AP) The PGA Tour is raising the prize money at The Players Championship to $15 million, making it the largest purse in golf unless any of the majors decide to up the ante this year.

The winner of March 12-15 event at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, will receive $2.7 million, nearly as much as Tiger Woods earned in his first two seasons as a pro. Read More...

Ladies Euro Tour expands schedule

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, England (AP) The Ladies European Tour will have its biggest schedule in nearly a decade and record prize money that includes bonus money for the top three players at the end of the season.

The 24 tournaments held in 16 countries offers a total prize fund of nearly 18 million euros (about $19.5 million), an increase of 4.5 million euros (about $5 million) from the previous year. Read More...

Wolfe earns first Korn Ferry Tour title

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) Jared Wolfe won The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at Baha Mar on Wednesday for his first Korn Ferry Tour title, closing with a 3-under 69 in strong wind for a four-stroke victory over Brandon Harkins.

A winner each of the last three years on PGA Tour Latinoamerica, Wolfe finished at 18-under 270 at Royal Blue Golf Course. The 31-year-old former Murray State player earned $108,000. Read More...
